[S5E3] And The Maybe Baby

The preview for the next episode implies that it's not Beth either, though apparently she's alive but maybe not all there mentally anymore. She appears to be locked up in what might be a makeshift hospital. It's hard to tell from the clip. Where this leaves Carol remains to be seen.

[S5E3] And the Maybe Baby

"Goo Goo Gas": Plankton's latest scheme sees him invent a gas that causes people to turn into babies. Plankton hijacks the Krusty Krab and turns all the customers into babies. Plankton then gets the secret formula, but SpongeBob accidentally overpowers the gas canister by bashing it, causing it to explode. The gas turns Plankton into a microscopic baby.

Let's start with Crosby, whose baby is still crying, leaving Crosby increasingly annoyed. We get it, Crosby! It's annoying for us too! At the very end of the episode we're offered a glimmer of hope that this shrieking plotline may come to a close when Crosby shares a brief moment with Aida and she finally manages to shut up. Things are looking up.

Now, on to Sarah. She's still insecure. She wants to be a photographer, but nobody will take her seriously as an artist, especially because her portfolio is overflowing with photos of crazy cat ladies (posing with their cats, obviously). When Kristina needs a photographer for her campaign, Sarah jumps at the chance to do a true photoshoot, even agreeing to do it for free. Kristina has her doubts about Sarah, but agrees to give it a try. Sarah excitedly preps for the day, but the photoshoot is ... a mess. Heather wants Kristina to come off as "maternal and powerful," which I'm pretty sure is a look entirely impossible to achieve in a headshot. Maybe if they had let Kristina sit in a throne while holding her baby things would have worked out better. Sarah returns to Hank's studio with her confidence shaken. She shows him the photos, asking him if they're any good. He picks out one of the photos, telling her that it's a truly great photo and giving her the self-esteem boost she was looking for. At which point I have to say, come on Sarah. You have two grown children! Please stop running around seeking validation for every single thing you do. You can do it! I believe in you!

Meanwhile, Drew is dealing with the trials and tribulations of being a college freshman. His fratty lacrosse roommate, whose vocabulary mainly consists of the word "bro," is constantly sexiling him and Drew has no choice but to sleep at Amber's. Ryan, being the burly military man that he is, refuses to accept this and insists that they confront lacrosse roomie. He bursts into Drew's room, kicking a girl out of his bed and laying down the law. Now Drew is free to live the true freshman life, even bringing a girl of his own back to his room. OK so maybe it's just to play scrabble, but it's definitely a start.

OK, so maybe I'm being a bit harsh on the Braverman clan. The episode may have been slightly redundant but it takes time to settle into a new season. I have total faith that next week will bring the classic "Parenthood" we've been waiting for.

Who knows Gary best? Well, apparently, it's a test that both Eddie (David Giuntoli) and Rome (Romany Malco) are masters at, constantly tying their friend's game in order to win the role of godfather. However, Eddie maybe takes a ding in that department when they're sitting in the empty Bruins stadium because Eddie messed up the time of the game.

As for who is going to be the godfather, Gary lets them know they will be sharing the title to his son, because what's better than a band of dads? Considering Gary just lost his own father, it's a beautiful sentiment and the baby will be well taken care of.

Hey, are you listening to this and thinking to yourself, Man, I wish I could talk to David about this? Well, you're in luck, we have a special offer for listeners of the HR Data Labs podcast, a free half hour call with me about any of the topics we cover on the podcast, or whatever is on your mind. Go to Salary.com/HRDLconsulting, to schedule your FREE 30 minute call today. And I think this gets to the second question where you're talking about how does giving change the culture because the employee benefit is being driven off of those platforms. So I think we've already gotten there, or we're there. So let's let's explore that a little further. So to that end, then the company has this mission. And they probably put it into their goals, especially from a leadership perspective. So now it's not just about who they're giving money to. It's about setting up their products and services and maybe even their supply chain to be able to support that kind of a thought process of if we did this differently, we could take the fruit that's about to spoil. And before it spoils, we can put it in packages, and then get it out to the agencies that either deal with homelessness or deal with hunger and get it in their hands before it spoils. So that it's usable within, you know, a couple of days, and not have to take the write down on it and not have to, you know, so they've changed the mindset of the leadership. And hopefully now that goes throughout. But how does that then translate to the employee giving and the the ability to support those causes? How do they how do you translate transition that?

Do the charities that gets supported inside of these have to be 403CB or I think that's Sorry, sorry, yes. For I'm sorry, 501c3. So so that number. So does it have to be that? Or are there other avenues for doing philanthropy, beyond those charities to maybe things like investing in majority owned female and people of color organization, so being able to not only put the money towards charity, but also put them towards companies that do good, and as well, companies that are aligned around what your culture is and what you want to support?

Dr. Jan Hasbrouck: 33:42I definitely am. And I definitely am proud and very grateful to have Daryl on board, particularly. It's the huge value... I have been so blessed in my career so many times to have the opportunity to collaborate with just the right person at just the right time. That original book, The Reading Coach, would not have been written, could not have been written, without the input of Carolyn Denton. This book, I would've not had the energy or the impetus to write it without Daryl's new vision and fresh ideas and great thinking around the process. So yeah! it is...I'm very proud of it, but very happy to have Daryl, because I think he's going to take this model of coaching into the future. He's very busy, doing coaching trainings all over the world, via Zoom and other formats. So yeah, I'm really, I am proud and really happy to watch this little baby that I helped create now go off into the world.

The Flash season 5 is not messing around when it comes to the season's villain. It's only the 3rd episode and already Team Flash has found themselves face to face with their biggest threat- twice. However, this week's episode seemed to reveal that maybe there is something more to Cicada than originally believed. We know he is a serial killer and even in the future was never caught by anyone, including Supergirl and the Green Arrow. His true identity also still remains a mystery.

Since the season 4 finale, we have known Cicada would be the Big Bad of The Flash season 5. But what if that has all been a misdirection? What if there is another person pulling all the strings? Nora somehow chooses to travel back in time to meet Barry. We don't know why she suddenly decided to make that choice, but if someone told her to do it maybe that person is the real villain of the season. It's scary to think of someone we don't even know exists yet behind the scenes pulling strings.

So what is it that Sherloque has figured out about Nora? There are obviously some things she isn't telling her family, but maybe it has to do with the timeline and nothing more. However, that doesn't seem like it's the case. There are some pretty big questions left by this episode and they all see to revolve around Nora. Watching the interactions between Nora and Sherloque will be interesting over the next couple of episodes as they engage in a game of cat and mouse with repercussions that could affect the entire team.

In this episode, we learn two important things about Cicada. One is that he is not a metahuman. The other is that he is a father with a daughter in the hospital for unknown reasons. Could the reason for her hospital stay somehow tie back to Nora's changing of the timeline? We already know that her appearance has changed the identity of Cicada altogether, maybe she changed the fate of his child as well. Her father did the same to Diggle in Flashpoint so it's not completely out of the question. And if Cicada somehow knows this, maybe it could explain why he is out to hurt metahumans, especially those with connections to The Flash.

Cecile gained powers as a result of her pregnancy. She gave birth to Jenna relatively recently, so maybe it's just that the powers are still lingering in her body. The Flash never really explained how Cecile had gotten these abilities so there really aren't any rules. Maybe they won't go away at all. Another possibility is that baby Jenna is a metahuman herself and that could affect Cecile as a result. Just imagining Joe dealing with his superpowered wife and daughter is enough to make this possibility seem like it could be a lot of fun. It also allows for Danielle Nicolet to have a larger role on the show, which is always a positive. Her scenes reading the other characters' minds last season were delightful and gave the character more importance than just serving as a love interest.

Chandler runs into Monica out in the waiting room, and she starts to tell him about what happened with Rachel and the nurses. Before she can finish, Chandler interrupts; he clearly assumes Monica is going to go out with the nurse and tries to save face by telling her he's fine with her dating the nurse, that he and Monica are nothing, they're just "goofing around". Monica says she was going to try and get out of the date, but if Chandler thinks they're just "goofing around," maybe she will go on the date after all. Joey comes in off the elevator, having just bought a few things in the gift shop, when he is hit with his third bout of pain. 041b061a72
